ABOUT THE OWNERS:

Longtime Washingtonians Brian and Amy Thomas created Nectar Skin Bar to address what they saw as a huge hole in the beauty market, one that their unique set of experiences was well-equipped to tackle.

Amy, the Director of Protocol for the Ambassador of United Arab Emirates, saw many iterations of the spa/retail shop in her world travels, and quickly compiled her wish list: top brands typically only available in major markets such as Los Angeles, New York, Paris, London and Tokyo; a highly-trained, knowledgeable staff that seamlessly addresses the needs of its clients; a results-focused spa; cutting edge technology; convenient location; and valet parking. Brian, the longtime chief of staff of Texas Representative Kenny Marchant, has been designing and building luxury condominiums as a side project for several years. This experience gave him the vision of the buildout necessary to house all of Amy's wish list. The couple also own the lauded Georgetown hair salon Ipsa for Hair.

ABOUT THE INTERIOR DESIGN:

Nectar Skin Bar interior designer, William McGovern of McGovern Design Studios, sums up the overall design concept as "nostalgic modern glamour." The entrance to Nectar Skin Bar beckons with an ornate custom made crystal chandelier by Italy's Barovier & Tosso, Lincrusta-decorated ceilings, and bright white cabinetry that offsets the lavender-papered walls. Natural light flows throughout the warmly-decorated space, allowing clients to try products in a realistic setting. The upstairs and gardens, decorated/landscaped in shades of muted greys and lavenders, present a peaceful respite from the bustle of Georgetown.
